Chanel celebrates tweed in its fall-winter 2022-2023 collection
“We followed the footsteps of Gabrielle Chanel along the River Tweed, to imagine tweeds in the colours of this landscape. Like that of a long pink coat mottled with blue and purple, or a burgundy suit with a delicate gold shimmer. This is what Gabrielle Chanel would do on her walks through the Scottish countryside: she would gather ferns and bouquets of flowers to inspire the local artisans for the tones she wanted”, Virginie Viard explains about her fall-winter 2022-2023 collection for Chanel. At the Grand Palais Éphémère, Chanel’s artistic director and designer displays a brand-new ready-to-wear collection that once again celebrates the Scottish carded wool and emblem of the fashion house: tweed. As for the rest of the collection, wellingtons, jackets in psychedelic colours, black velvet trousers, and tight skirts shine a light on the free creative spirit of the Swinging London during the 1960s in the UK.
