In Charles Dullin square, in front of the very charming Théâtre de l’Atelier, curious visitors can make a stop at Café de Luce. This small café-brasserie typical of the French capital was imagined by chef Amandine Chaignot, a former Masterchef juror who trained in the greatest Parisian palaces, from the Bristol to Meurice, Crillon and Plaza Athénée). Open from 8am to midnight, it offers classic French cuisine prepared from good, fresh, ultra-sourced products.

If the French chef first opened her bistro Pouliche in 2019, she is now returning to Montmartre, where she has lived for ten years, for her new restaurant paying tribute to her grandmother, Luce. The latter reminds her of her first culinary memories, such as cheese puff pastries or old-fashioned apple pies. That comforting feeling is what Amandine Chaignot wanted to convey through the Café de Luce. There, she offers traditional, gourmet cuisine typical of Parisian brasseries.

On the menu, one can find the famous mayonnaise eggs, with croutons and wild herbs or a calf’s head with gribibichette sauce as a starter. Then, the delicious Salers beef tartare with vegetable herbs — which can also be topped with eight grams of Sturia caviar — or a gourmet salad composed of sautéed potatoes, egg, bacon, radishes, and roasted onions as a main course. Other signature dishes? The savory croissants, filled with either Parisian and Comté ham, snail with parsley, burrata, roasted artichoke or summer truffle. For the sweet teeth, Café de Luce has appetizing desserts, like the ultra-light floating island with pink pralines or slices of pies. If you’re in the mood for something fresh, the beautiful peach and raspberry salad with verbena is a must-try.
