Eminem opens a fast-food restaurant in Detroit

On Wednesday, September 29, the American rapper with 226 million albums sold opens a restaurant called Mom’s Spaghetti, in Detroit, his hometown.

It was in a thirty-second commercial that looked like a video clip that the rapper revealed his new business to his fans. From Wednesday, September 29, they will be able to flock to the Detroit fast-food restaurant called Mom’s Spaghetti to enjoy spaghetti bolognese and meatballs or vegetarian meatballs. “Mom’s Spaghetti” refers to a passage from the iconic song “Lose Yourself ” (2002), for which he won the Oscar for “Best Original Song” as well as two Grammy Awards.

Having become an anthem, the song describes the journey of a young man who fights to become a star, a trajectory that evokes that of the artist born in 1972. The piece opened with these words  : ‘His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti’‘) The rapper landed there his tumultuous relationship with his mother.

Eminem had already opened a pop-up restaurant in the basement of Club Shelter in his native life,  when his album Revival was released in 2017 where he served his “mom’s spaghetti”. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he also had his famous pasta delivered to caregivers by the containerload. But this time, he intends to settle there permanently. After many projects including the release of his album Music To Be Murdered By in 2020 – which depicted him as a tortured man in a torn America – Eminem,  at 47, could start a real career in the world of fast food. Just like Drake, who just invested in a fried chicken chain…

Mom’s Spaghetti, Eminem’s fast-food restaurant, will open on Wednesday, September 29 in Detroit, USA.
