The sweater, a winter essential
Worn in layers, tied around the waist, draped over the shoulders, styled as a dress or simply slipped on under a leather jacket or bomber… Sweaters are among the essential allies when facing the cold.
Its timeless reputation makes it a must-have for this Fall/Winter season, constantly reinvented, season after season. Championed by leading fashion houses, the sweater comes in endless variations, from oversized cuts to second-skin knits, and combine comfort with style.
Which style to choose for a sophiscated look?

The crewneck sweater
A true classic, the crewneck sweater is set to become a staple in every wardrobe. Favoured by leading American actresses, such as Julianne Moore and Jennifer Lawrence, it can be paired just as much with denims as with a pencil skirt for a flawless look.
At the Miu Miu Fall-Winter 2025/2026 show, it conveyed a quiet femininity, accentuated by a dark grey trim. Subtle, yet intentional. Our top pick this season? A short, chunky knit by JW Anderson, embroidered with the brand’s initials in gold thread – effortless elegance at its peak.

The zip-up sweater
Channeling the sportswear trend, the half-zip or zip-up cardigan has been spotted at From Future and Skims in two luxurious versions in cashmere and wool. Both featuring a mock nexk, they exude a laid-back vibe that elevates any silhouette. We also spotted this zipped style on the streets of Paris during Fashion Week, gracefully worn by models, once again confirming its popularity and appeal.

The turtleneck sweater
Hermès, Gabriela Hearst, Marni… The fashion houses made it clear at the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 Fashion Week – the turtleneck is officially back. This season, it appears at COS and Kujten, but also at Dries Van Noten, who reimagines it with a buttoned collar and ribbed, cinched cuffs. Recently spotted in the streets of Lyon, France, the iconic Isabelle Huppert also seems to have fell for turtlenecks, pairing it with a leather jacket and, naturally, a Balenciaga bag.

The oversized sweater
While Chanel has rediscovered to the charm of the chunky sweater-dress on its Fall/Winter 2025–2026 catwalk, several brands have taken bold steps in playing with proportions this season. Among the are Calvin Klein, with its oversized scarf-sweater hybrid, Magliano, which combines alpaca, wool and cotton in a piece featuring a vintage print, and Éric Bompard, which opts for softness with a fuzzy, oversized knit.

The mohair and brushed wool sweater
What could be more refined, cocooning and silky than mohair? Used by Acne Studios and Saint Laurent, this fabric enhances two wide-fit sweaters. One with sculptural shoulders, the other in a vivid hue. Versatile and often underestimated, this piece has never been more in demand. The reason? It perfectly embodies what fashion needs right now – effortless silhouettes built on comforting, lasting pieces.
