Matthieu Blazy lands in New York for the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2026 show
To say that Matthieu Blazy’s arrival at Chanel has shaken the fashion world would be an understatement. After a triumphant debut on the lasst day of Paris Fashion Week last October 2025, the Belgian designer, who previously disrupted the fashion codes at Bottega Veneta, is now shifting the spotlight to New York.
A$AP Rocky and Margaret Qualley, stars of a striking campaign
Adding to the overall excitement, a news set social media ablaze on November 29th… A$AP Rocky is the new Chanel ambassador, thus joining a select circle of celebrities, like Kendrick Lamar. It marks a new milestone for the American artist, who has been everywhere this year. First, he was appointed creative director at Ray-Ban, then he appeared on the red carpet at Cannes to present Highest 2 Lowest, Spike Lee’s latest film in which he stars alongside Denzel Washington.
To mark the occasion, Chanel unveiled a video campaign directed directed by Michel Gondry. The French filmmaker imagines a breathless love story between A$AP Rocky and actress Margaret Qualley. Shot in the streets of New York in a retro style inspired by 1920s silent cinema, the man known as “Pretty Flacko” races through the city before proposing to the actress. A whimsical tribute to Coco Chanel’s historic aesthetic and a direct nod to Matthieu Blazy’s debut show, where he boldly reinterpreted the house’s codes.
All signs suggest that Matthieu Blazy may well turn New York into the perfect stage to showcase his singular vision on December 2nd. The designer will deliver a Métiers d’Art show that extends his new era at Chanel.
