Which label will create the next Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection?

After the Japanese Chitose Abe with Sacai, Jean Paul Gaultier invites a new label to revisit these archives for a couture collection presented in January 2022.

After a spectacular last show presented in January 2020 which celebrated his 50 years of career, Jean Paul Gaultier announced that he would entrust the design of his future couture collections to some of the most avant-garde designers of their time. After Chitose Abe, founder of the Japanese label Sacai, the French designer has announced that he will entrust the reins of his studio for one season to Glenn Martens, artistic director of Y/Project.

A graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Glenn Martens joined the artistic direction of the Y/project label in 2013 for which he composes collections that give pride of place to experimental volumes, modular pieces, layering and unexpected details and within which he himself is a reference, historical, streetwear and sportswear.  Awarded the Grand Prix de l’Andam in 2017, he has since collaborated with Canada Goose, Melissa, Fila and Diesel, before also being appointed creative director of the Italian label in 2020.

The collection by Glenn Martens and Y/Project for Jean Paul Gaultier will be presented in January 2020.
