Berluti collaborates with American sculptor Brian Rochefort for its new collection
Berluti unveils in a video the behind-the-scenes of the Fall-Winter 2021 ready-to-wear collection, designed with American sculptor Brian Rochefort.
By Allan Lemarchand.
Brian Rochefort is an American ceramic artist from Los Angeles known for his abstract sculptures. He holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and has participated in exhibitions at the Retrospective Gallery in Hudson, The Cabin in Los Angeles, and at the Sorry We’re Closed gallery in Brussels. After having earned recognition with his cups made out of clay with textured drops, the 35-year-old artist signs an intriguing collaboration with Berluti.
Kris Van Assche, Berluti’s creative director, has always been a passionate ceramic collector and was eager to work with the American abstract artist. He says that his vision is continually inspired by the textures and colours related to ceramic art, which draws natural parallels to the patina methods practised by Berluti’s artisans in Italy. Brian Rochefort’s work presents a common thread with the sartorial dialogue between tradition and change embodied by Berluti, says Kris Van Assche.
The behind-the-scenes of the collaboration was previewed in a video with the two artists, screened online as part of Digital Paris Fashion Week.
This short documentary tackles the topic of connectivity in the digital era, linking Berluti’s headquarters in Paris and Brian Rochefort’s studio in Los Angeles.
