17 shorts and micro shorts we need for the summer
In 2025, there’s no need to have the legs of a supermodel to sport a pair of shorts and be on trend. Denim, knitted, leather, cotton, silk, striped or checked… shorts will be everywhere, available in every fabric and every length this summer.

Shorts are once again a summer trend
Among the many trends sets by Miuccia Prada, shorts, and more precisely shorties, stand out as the main one. First unveiled at the Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2023-2024 show, and revisited many times since, including for the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, this iconic piece has lost none of its charm and boldness.
For several seasons now, shorts have become the stars of the catwalk… From Chanel and Gucci to Prada and Valentino, the Spring/Summer 2025 Fashion Week has confirmed it.
Promising endlessly long legs, this daring and impetuous trend is no longer limited to sunny beaches… It now appears in the city, on sports fields, at festivals, and even at the most elegant cocktail parties. So why resist the temptation any longer?
Shorty, mini or micro shorts: how to choose?
Leather mini shorts add a rebellious attitude to any look, perfectly in sync with the indie sleaze trend. With their revealing, ultra-sexy cut at Magda Butrym and distinctly rock aesthetic at Ludovic de Saint Sernin, where a low-rise, subversive version is available, shorts become a statement piece.
Meanwhile, crochet and knitted micro shorts offer a chic, relaxed alternative, suitable for both busy days and relaxing moments. Blumarine unveils form-fitting red shorts, while Versace goes full Barbiecore with a pink and white piece, adorned with the signature Medusa buttons.
Another option: striped cotton shorts. Ideal for lounging at home or relaxing by the pool, or, for the boldest among us, showing off on the streets of Paris. And of course, the must-have denim option, a timeless summer staple constantly reinterpreted from one season to the next.
Finally, the rise of the tenniscore trend is hard to ignore. Adidas, Sporty & Rich and R13 have all embraced it, offering ultra-comfy, lightweight shorts perfect to have that effortless look everyone is after.
