The Batman: Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz get closer in a dark trailer

Unveiled at the DC FanDome, the virtual event dedicated to DC Comics last Saturday, the official trailer of The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves (Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield), stars Batman (played by Robert Pattinson) and Catwoman (played by Zoë Kravitz) in a darker and more violent setting than his previous adaptations.

After an epic first teaser released in August 2020,
The Batman
reveals itself even more in its official trailer presented this Saturday, October 16, 2021 during the DC FanDome, the virtual event dedicated to DC Comics. Directed by Matt Reeves (Planet of the Apes, Cloverfield), the feature film is surely one of the most anticipated films of the year, especially since the release of this new taste darker and more violent than previous film adaptations of comics, whether it’s both versions by Tim Burton in 1989 and 1992 or Christopher Nolan’s trilogy from 2005 to 2012.

With an intense and solemn soundtrack by Michael Giacchino (also behind those of Star Trek, Jurassic World and Spider-Man), the trailer, which places the plot in the heart of a dark and threatening Gotham City, first shows the arrest of the Riddler, the big villain played by actor and young director Paul Dano. We then see a Robert Pattinson ravaged by anger in the costume of the title role,  accompanied by Zoë Kravitz in the role of Catwoman.

If the video still leaves mystery hanging over the plot, in particular as for the face and role of the Penguin – the hero’s famous nemesis, here played by Colin Farrell – in the plot, it still confirms the importance of the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Catwoman in the film. Just like Butler Alfred (played by Andy Serkis), the superheroine worries about the violence that the Batman is able to unleash, and tries to calm his quest for revenge.

The Batman (2022) by Matt Reeves, in theaters on March 2, 2022.
