Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem recreate a cult sitcom from the 50s

After The Great Game in 2017 and The Chicago Seven last year, filmmaker Aaron Sorkin unveiled the trailer for his brand new film, Being The Ricardos, which will feature the underside of a cult sitcom from the 50s, and those of its two lead actors, played by Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem.

If, recently, we could see Nicole Kidman at the head of a cult in the series Nine Perfect Strangers and Javier Bardem as a great warrior and leader of a whole people in the film Dune by Denis Villeneuve, the two actors are now at the heart of a feature film by Aaron Sorkin (The Great Game, The Chicago Seven). Entitled Being The Ricardos, the film will focus on the daily life of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, two real actors who played in the cult sitcom of the 50s in the United States I Love Lucy — which also inspired the wildly successful Marvel series Wandavision—whose  short twenty-five-minute episodes chronicled the misadventures of the colorful couple Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.

Broadcast from 1951 to 1957 on the CBS network, this soap  opera revolutionized the television landscape of the time, by shooting its episodes in front of a real audience, and not with pre-recorded laughter. Like a biopic, Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem will reprise the roles of the iconic acting couple, who are facing many problems both professionally and personally. Threatened by serious accusations, the stars of the sitcom will have to get out of this torment, while managing their often complicated daily lives.

Being The Ricardos (2021) by Aaron Sorkin, scheduled for release in theaters on December 10 and on Amazon Prime Video on December 21, 2021.
