Isabelle Adjani’s musical career in the spotlight again

Recently present on a beautiful duet featured on Malik Djoudi’s latest album, Troie, Isabelle Adjani’s singing voice is once again reminiscent of our sweet memory. The actress will indeed be the subject of a vinyl reissue next November which returns to a little-known episode of her career.

Because she is one of the greatest actresses of her generation, awarded five times by the César for best actress – a record – we sometimes forget that Isabelle Adjani also sang. However, his songs from the 80s deserve to be exhumed from the past and not only those that Serge Gainsbourg wrote for him. We are therefore delighted with the vinyl reissue of a 45 rpm record by the artist, scheduled for November 12. This collector’s picture-disc will bring together two tracks from 1986: “Princesse au petit pois”  and “Léon dit”  composed by Sébastien Santa Maria (Claude Nougaro, Bernard Lavilliers).

It was the heroine of The Story of Adèle H herself who wrote the lyrics of Princess with a Pea, a title that is now difficult to find online (the Youtube versions have all been deleted). His poetic text seems to conceal confidences about the passionate personality of the artist: “It’s better if I sleep without dreaming / I’m afraid of nothing / You mustn’t push / Stop I won’t love you anymore / But I’ve given you insane proof.“An album was supposed to follow the release of this 80s single, but it was never produced. The artist was frightened by the promotion, especially on television, that a record release would have generated.

Isabelle Adjani’s greatest musical adventure to date remains her album composed by Serge Gainsbourg and released in 1983 on which appears the melancholic hit Pull marine but also Ohio and Beau oui comme Bowie. During the 90s, the actress abandoned singing. But in the 2000s, she was seen alongside Christophe, The Aikiu, Alex Beaupain, Elvis Costello and The Penelopes. His latest pop incursion? A sublime duet with Malik Djoudi present on Malik Djoudi’s album Troy, released last September, which makes you want Isabelle Adjani to one day re-release a long-form project.
