In which horror film will model Gabbriette make her cinematic debut?
A model for the biggest fashion houses and a member of Charli XCX’s inner circle, American Gabbriette is one of the most recognizable faces of Gen Z—and now, she’s catching the eye of the film industry. She’s set to appear in the reboot-sequel of the cult classic I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), with its official release scheduled for summer 2025. Numéro takes a closer look.

Gabbriette, future movie star?
A model and Gen Z it girl, Gabbriette regularly shares her best looks and front-row appearances at fashion shows and events on social media. With over two million Instagram followers, she ranks among the most influential personalities of her generation—thanks in part to her connection with singer Charli XCX, with whom she was part of the pop-rock band Nasty Cherry in 2019. As if her résumé weren’t already impressive, the model announced at the end of March that she’s been cast in a highly anticipated upcoming horror film: the reboot of the cult classic I Know What You Did Last Summer, released in France in 1998 and followed by two sequels through 2005.
Following in the footsteps of Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber, Gabbriette, 27, is set to make her acting debut. Bella appeared in a noteworthy cameo in season five of the western series Yellowstone (and will soon appear in an upcoming Ryan Murphy film), while Kaia starred in Bottoms in 2023.
A reboot of the cult horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer set for summer 2025
With a photo taken on the set of the upcoming film, the Italian-American model—real name Gabriella Leigh Bechte—revealed her participation in the reboot/sequel. She’ll star alongside young actors Nicholas Alexander Chaves and Lola Tung, as well as Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui Wonders (seen in Bodies Bodies Bodies in 2022). Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt are also returning to the franchise.

Filmed in Australia, I Know What You Did Last Summer is slated for theatrical release on July 16, 2025. The new version updates the late ’90s horror classic. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson—who penned the script for Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and directed Do Revenge that same year starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke—the film follows a group of friends haunted by a deadly accident on the night of July 4 in the United States. A year later, they begin receiving anonymous letters and are stalked by a series of terrifying events…
While Prime Video already attempted a series adaptation of the horror franchise in 2021—with little success—this new reboot (with its promising cast) is expected to draw more attention and further boost Gabbriette’s rising star.
