Why is Clint Eastwood still ruffling feathers at the ripe old age of 90?

Cinema An internationally celebrated actor and a director of 38 films, Clint Eastwood is back in cinemas with a new full-length feature that’s as controversial as the previous ones: “The Ballad of Richard Jewell”. Between westerns, cowboys and veterans, patriotism, war, American heroism and armed violence, his films illustrate an ambiguous vision of America which often questions the filmmaker’s own personality. A shock documentary on sexism is giving Hollywood a run for its money

Cinema Tom Donahue’s documentary, "This Changes Everything” gives women their chance to denounce the discrimination of the Hollywood movie industry. In French cinemas from February 19th, the film should, hopefully, shake up the sexism that lingers over almost all cinematic production in "La-La Land".    Tom Donahue’s documentary, "This Changes Everything” gives women their chance to denounce the discrimination of the Hollywood movie industry. Censured by Trump, “The Hunt” is a divisive movie

Cinema At the end of 2019, on the other side of the Atlantic, a film caused quite a stir, and it hadn’t even been released in cinemas. Directed by Craig Zobel, “The Hunt” was supposed to be revealed to an American public last September, but someone with orange skin was opposed to it… indeed Donald Trump accuses the movie of promoting violence, in spite of his country already being ravaged by repeated gun violence and a year 2018 that didn’t see more than four days go by without a killing of this kind. A few years ago, the 80-year old Englishman shared his feelings with Numéro on the sensitive subjects of war, religion and Americans, with all the acuity and spirit that characterise him. Israel, birthplace of the most successful TV shows?

Series  “Euphoria”, “Homeland”, “In Treatment”… None of these hit shows were actually written in the USA. All adapted from Israeli shows, they owe their success to the original versions, written in Hebrew by showrunners on the other side of the Atlantic. At a party dedicated to Israeli shows, Canal+ showed “Israel, Land of the Series” a documentary by critic, film maker and regular Numéro collaborator Olivier Joyard, dedicated to the programs that bring a wealth of excitement to the small screen in a country that up until 1993, only had one TV channel.   “Euphoria”, “Homeland”, “In Treatment”… None of these hit shows were actually written in the USA.
