The poetic smoke sculptures of the collective (LA)HORDE in “Cloud Chasers”

The French collective of directors, (LA)HORDE unveils its new smoky short film “Cloud Chasers”, 7th part of the initiative launched by Lafayette Anticipation, “Mutant Stage”.

From the renovation work in the Lafayette Anticipation building, the Galeries Lafayette fundation that supports young contemporary artists, was born the idea of an artistic project to make to place useful way before its reopening. Named Mutant Stage, the initiative celebrates all the artistic mutations through conceptual short movies from 2’30 to 4’ in which dance, architecture and cinema blend together to turn each episode into an original and singular creation.

On the occasion of this 7th part, it’s the collective (LA)HORDE composed of three talented French directors, Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel, that gives its own interpretation. Since they started off in 2011, their work is focused on video, performance and choregraphic installation. They now unveil Cloud Chasers, a poetic video set to music by the electronic artist OK Lou in which smoke volutes evolve with dance, like a representation of the undefined contours of the place and its variety of possibilities.

How Virgil Abloh is shaking up the design scene

Art Trained architect, fashion designer, DJ... Virgil Abloh has also distinguished himself in recent years as a creator of design furniture pieces. Within a reputedly elitist milieu, the American advocates openness to the general public and popular culture. Relying on a subversive and ironic vocabulary derived from streetwear culture, he adapts vernacular furniture to contemporary aesthetics and tastes. Invited to exhibit his pieces at the Kreo gallery in Paris, Numéro art photographed him surrounded by his creations, and asked Michael Darling, curator of the Chicago museum and a great specialist of the designer, to shed light on this iconoclastic work.
