Gerhard Richter seen by Enki Bilal for the cover of Numéro art 17
For the cover of Numéro art 17, illustrator Enki Bilal did us the honour of capturing the portrait of legendary German painter Gerhard Richter, who is the subject of a landmark retrospective at the Louis Vuitton Foundation this Fall. This new issue will be available on newsstands and iPad on October 18th, 2025.

Gerhard Richter seen by Enki Bilal on the cover art of Numéro art
German painter Gerhard Richter takes center stage at the Louis Vuitton Foundation with nearly 300 works showcasing the full breadth of his art, from precise figuration to pure abstraction. To mark the occasion, I invited the iconic illustrator Enki Bilal, whose book Monstre adresses the figure of the contemporary artist, to create his portrait. In our columns, curator Camille Morineau shares some insights into working with the master, since she had previously collaborated with him for his retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2012.
