“Sex and the City” : 17 ans après la fin de la série, HBO prépare une nouvelle saison

Le fait est étonnant mais pas vraiment inouï. Après deux films sortis respectivement en 2008 et 2010 et une série préquelle intitulée The Carrie Diaries, diffusée entre 2013 et 2014, on commence à comprendre : 23 ans après la première diffusion de la série sur HBO, Sex and the City fait toujours vendre. Pas de grosse surprise donc, lorsque le monde a appris hier que les aventures de Carrie Bradshaw et ses amies reviennent pour une nouvelle saison.

C’est avec le même casting, à l’exception de l’actrice Kim Cattrall – qui interprétait à l’époque la très délurée Samantha et dont les différends avec Sarah Jessica Parker, personnage principal et productrice de la série sont de notoriété publique – que cette saison intitulée And Just Like That… (Et juste comme ça) reviendra en dix épisodes sur HBO Max. 

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis et Cynthia Nixon revêtiront les traits de Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York et Miranda Hobbes alors qu’elles ont poursuivi des carrières très différentes depuis la fin de la série : la première est apparue dans nombre de comédies romantiques et s’est vue offrir le rôle principal de la série Divorce (diffusée sur HBO de 2016 à 2019), la seconde s’est fait plus discrète sur les écrans, jouant dans seulement deux films depuis Sex and the City 2 (2010) tandis que la dernière s’est engagée en politique, militant pour les droits des homosexuels et se portant candidate en 2018 à l’élection primaire démocrate pour le poste de gouverneur de l’Etat de New York.

Si Sarah Jessica Parker a mis en ligne un trailer sur son compte Instagram, on ne sait pas précisément le pitch de cette nouvelle saison. La société de production HBO, elle, a annoncé que les épisodes suivront les trois cinquantenaires dans leur amitié et leurs pérégrinations amoureuses. La date de sortie n’a pas été précisée, mais les premières scènes devraient être tournées à New York à la fin du printemps.
